Parish Council Statement – Avian Influenza (H5N1) and Anwick
Following confirmation of avian influenza (H5N1) at a commercial poultry farm near Newark-on-Trent, Anwick Parish Council has formally contacted the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA), the Environment Agency, and North Kesteven District Council Environmental Health to seek clarification on any implications for Anwick.
The Parish Council has asked whether any birds or poultry waste from the affected area are being transported to Anwick, what risk assessments have been undertaken, and what biosecurity and public health protections are in place.
Once responses are received from the relevant authorities, the Parish Council will provide an update to residents.
