2019 Chair's Report

ANWICK PARISH COUNCIL

CHAIR’S REPORT YEAR 1ST APRIL 2018 TO 31ST MARCH 2019.

1.   District Councillor

Cllr. Mervyn Head has joined our district and attends all of our meetings. Cllr. Head is very enthusiastic and has shared a wealth of knowledge that has been invaluable to the council.

2.   The last twelve months

•   In April 2018 the Parish Council paid for the reduction of height to the hedge in the cemetery. Also included other areas of the cemetery were cleared and the green waste taken away.
•   Due to the constant use of the lawn mower and strimmers repairs were undertaken and the costs where shared with St. Edith’s church.
•   In line with Health and Safety regulations Martin Jacobs was supplied with safety work wear uniform when undertaking cutting of the grass and including the public footpaths.
•   In May the Parish Council purchased two ‘Dog Poo’ bins, which Richard Coulson very kindly installed for us at no charge. These are sited near to the playing field.
•   In September a projector was purchased for the village. This has proved to be a very valuable piece of equipment and two ‘horse racing’ nights have been held, which has raised much needed funds for the church and community centre. Both events were very well attended.
•   The Parish Council have also applied for a licence, which enables the village to show films, another way of fund raising and also very good social evenings.
•   Following on from a request of a resident living in School Crescent a’ grit bin’ was purchased. The Parish Council will continue to ensure that there is sufficient de icing grit is always there for the residents.
•   The annual ROSPA inspection was carried out in August which covers inspection of the play park and the new pieces of play equipment bought previous years. From this report again Richard Coulson kindly offered to shear off the pieces of metal that were sticking up to prevent any accidents happening.
•   The Parish Council paid for a repair to the roof of the Community Centre. At some stage that part of the roof will need to be totally replaced and the Clerk is looking at what grants we are able to apply for to assist with the cost.
•   The Chair and Clerk attended Cluster meetings in July and January. These meetings prove to be very useful and to be aware of what is going on in other villages and to share knowledge.
•   The Clerk and Cllr. Lorraine Curtis have attended a number of Liaison meetings with Moy Park. These meetings have built up a good working relationship with Moy Park and any issues from the village can be shared and resolved.
•   A First Aid session was organised for Anwick and surrounding villages, which was held at South Kyme village hall.
•   The Clerk undertook a cost comparison exercise in connection with the grass cutting for the Play Park and playing field. It was found that the current contractor was still the most cost effective.
•   Rick Webster Maintenance will continue to service the grassed areas of the Play Park and playing field.
•   Vicky Lenton continues to undertake a sterling work of both Litter Picker and Dog Warden, now named ‘Environment Warden’ for Anwick. Vicky recently attended a training event at NKDC and gave the Parish Council an update and also her findings around the village.
•   The Parish Council have liaised with Lincs County Council to prevent vehicles parking on the junction with the A153 and Wood Lane. Unfortunately due to the amount of vehicles including lorries the grass has been churned up and the bollards broken. The latest information from Lincs County Council is that double yellow lines are to be painted on both junctions. Hopefully this will deter motorists and lorries from parking.
•   A letter together with reply slip was delivered to all the residents in Anwick asking for their response in connection with a proposed pedestrian crossing on the main road. The Parish Council received a substantial amount of positive replies. Following on from this exercise we are waiting for a Traffic Data survey to be carried out which will monitor the number of pedestrians crossing the main road. Once this process has been carried out then we should have a positive case to take back to Lincs County Council
