2021 Chair's Report
ANWICK PARISH COUNCIL
CHAIR’S REPORT 1ST APRIL2020 TO 31ST MARCH 2021.
The last twelve months
Due to COVID restrictions no face-to-face meetings took place, however, regular consultations were carried out through the use of other remote media solutions, to ensure that all items were dealt with the approval of Cllrs.
The Parish Council were approached by CJP Garden Services a local Company to bid for cutting of the grass in the play park and playing field. The Clerk undertook a cost comparison with the previous company. The contract was awarded to CJP Garden Services who also agreed to cut the hedge in the churchyard and hedge adjacent to the play park. An agreement was drawn up with CJP/APC for one year an agreed rate.
Another agreement was drawn up with St. Edith’s church for cutting the hedge undertaken by CJP Garden Services in the churchyard for one year. This donation was well received by the PCC of St. Edith’s.
Due to COVID restrictions the Community Centre has been closed, therefore the MPLC licence was not paid. But once the centre can be safely opened then the licence will be paid. The insurance for the centre which covers the building and public liability has been paid.
After 25 years of dedicated service Jane and Danny Sturton gave up with the role of caretaker/bookings clerk. As a way of saying thank you for their dedication to the community in this regard, the Parish Council presented them with £100.00 in hospitality vouchers.
No liaison meetings took place at Moy Park. However, any issues raised were dealt with via email. Any updates from Moy Park were sent to the Clerk for display around the village.
The Clerk submitted two applications to the Moy Park Community Fund for a complete new kitchen and replacing part of the roof for the Centre. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful with both applications. The Clerk has been advised to reapply in August 2021.
The Parish Council continue to pay the yearly subscription to LALC, however it was agreed not to pay for the training facility normally offered, again due to COVID.
Following on from the ROsPA report R Coulson very kindly removed the metal climbing frame from the park , as it was deemed dangerous within the report.
Unfortunately in September the wooden climbing frame, which was under consideration by the Council for replacement, was vandalised and police notified. Quotations were subsequently received for a new frame and rubber safety matting installed. The contract was awarded to Allenby’s who have now cleared the site, installed safety fencing and will install the vandal proof frame and safety matting. A claim was made to the Insurance Company who only paid for the climbing frame. APC will pay the balance for the remaining work which is ongoing.
Going forward, where instances of deliberate or reckless damage to playpark equipment, arise, consideration will be given to simply having the damaged equipment removed and area reinstated to grass.
Soteria House re-opened and re-named Magna House. The Clerk was invited to look around the premises and shown work was being undertaken. It is now under new management and the Clerk has asked for an update which will be shared when received.
During the year donations were made to ‘Lives’ and ‘Citizens Advice’.
Various Planning Applications were received and responded to. Including the renaming of the new development in Anwick Manor grounds, now called ‘The Gardens’.
Martin Jacobs continually gives excellent work when cutting the grass for the public footpaths and cemetery. The Parish Council have paid for the servicing and maintenance of the mowers and strimmers to ensure that Martin can still provide a good and safe service.
Thanks
To Jane and Danny Sturton for their service over the past 25 years and wish them well for the future.
To Richard Coulson who is always happy to help with installation and repairs when needed.
To Martin Jacobs who always gives ‘over and above’ a great job mowing the grass areas.
To Jeanne Flanagan, the Parish Clerk. Jeanne, through her hard work, professionalism and dedication to the village, its residents and the Parish Council, has provided a great deal of support and stability, in what has been a very difficult year.
