June 2024 Chairs Report
ANWICK PARISH COUNCIL
CHAIR’S REPORT 1ST APRIL 2023 TO END OF MARCH 2024
1. The Community Centre
The Parish Council have continued to undertake the running and maintenance of the Community Centre for another year. During this year the Parish Council have been very fortunate to have new safety fencing installed around the play park and rear of the centre. Also painting of the play park equipment, tables and benches. We also have had a new kitchen and appliances installed with financial support from Moy Park. The kitchen was re-wired, plastered, new plumbing and painting also carried out.
Regular weekly and monthly bookings from Spartans Taekwon, Enbridge Healthcare, regular monthly Over 60’s meetings, plus extra events arranged by the Over 60’s. St. Edith’s church continues to hold monthly coffee mornings, plus bingo and other events to support the financial cost of the church. The Centre is also used for birthday and other celebratory events.
The revenue for the use of the church helps immensely with the upkeep of the Centre, which due to its age needs more maintenance work carried out.
We must thank Martin Jacobs for looking after the Centre, by way of notifying the Clerk of maintenance jobs that are required, plus any other issues that arise. Martin has undertook a sterling job of looking after the Centre, ensuring that it is kept clean and tidy and always open in readiness for when the hall is being used. Martin is a very dedicated member of the public and we cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and pride you take.
2. Grass cutting
Martin undertakes the grass cutting in various places around the village to a high standard as his normal dedication – thank you.
The local company who undertook to cut the grass in the play park and playfield continued to cut the grass until October 2023, unfortunately due to reasons unknown we have been unable contact him to ask when he would be starting again. The Parish Council have started to make arrangements to cover the grass cutting in both areas.
3. Contributions
The Parish Council contributed towards LIVES and Citizen’s Advice as a yearly contribution.
The Parish Council received an amount of money from Avqiva towards the replanting around . the Pumping Station opposite the Centre. The Clerk will be meeting with Anwick Garden Centre who will provide suitable planting to make the area more pleasing to the eye.
4. LALC
The Parish Council renewed its membership for another year. LALC are a governing body who can supply us with a huge amount of information when we need it, plus up to date training sessions are arranged for us to access when required.
5. Councillors
Unfortunately due to work commitments former Cllr. Chris Pollington had to resign from the Parish Council and we thanked him for his valuable time and expertise in the Health and Safety areas that are needed to ensure that the Community Centre is kept up to date.
Cllr. Andrew Key for Lincs County Council who attends our meetings on behalf of Lincs County Council and has given us some very valuable advice and support on issues that arise. Thank you Andrew.
The Parish Council were extremely pleased that Cllr. Mervyn Head joined the Parish Council in 2023. Mervyn is also a District Councillor and has been for many years. With all his expertise and knowledge he is invaluable to the Parish Council and is very supportive with issues that arise. Thank you Mervyn.
6. Finance
The Parish Council had to increase the Precept for this financial year, mostly due to the maintenance of the Centre, plus paying for the new safety fencing that was badly needed around the play park and rear of the Centre and additional costs to complete the new kitchen.
7. Thanks
